Wish Lanterns in an Art Project

There are many schools in the country, where students are setting up new clubs every year and we found out that in one such club, students were about to make their own Wish Lanterns. The club is called “Chinese Language and Culture Club” and is recently established. In the school there are already other clubs like the Spanish, French, German and Philosophy clubs. However, a group of students decided that since there is such a big Chinese community in the school, there should be a Chinese club too. These smart students wanted to learn the language of their ancestors and to learn more about their Asian inheritance and that is why they came up with the idea of this club. Some of the activities in the club are watching Asian movies and learning Mandarin language. Students really enjoy drawing cartoons and want to learn how to write their names with Chinese characters. The interesting thing about the club is that there are students who are not Asian, but they do enjoy coming to the club meetings. This is wonderful, because it comes to show that kids are broadening their horizons and want to learn new and different things. The latest project in the club is to teach students how to make their own paper lanterns.

If you do not have a Chinese or Asian club in your kid’s school, you can always order Wish Lanterns from us and teach him about his Asian inheritance.
