Lantern, Lantern, Where Did You Come Form?

Wish lanterns have become a worldwide phenomenon. People light them for weddings to express their good will towards the newlyweds, they light them at funeral as a last goodbye, and they light them at festivals. People light them for all kinds of reasons. Originally the lanterns came from China and it was a well known fact that Asian people used them in almost all of their celebrations and festivals. But this is no longer the case. These simple paper devices have spread their captivating power all over the world. One of these devices came as a surprise to an elderly couple. As they were spending time in their back yard they suddenly noticed something very strange in the air. Since it was daylight they could take a better look at it as it was floating in the air. But still they weren’t sure – a bird, airplane, air balloon, they couldn’t decide. But then they noticed that there was a small flame inside and it that has began to fade. The flying object was about to make its final landing in a nearby field. The woman’s brother went to fetch the strange thing and then the three of them took a closer look at the thing, they discovered that is was very much like an air balloon, but not quite. It was made of thin paper with some light wooden structure inside and there was something written on it.

Wish Lanterns – the people finally found put what that was and started wondering where this magnificent device has come from.
